Each year, thousands of people from across the globe attend the NDSC Annual Convention. For most, it’s to hear the latest information from world-renowned experts. For others, it’s a great vacation. However, for nearly all, there’s the one-of-a-kind NDSC “giant family reunion” feeling that permeates the convention weekend.

4/7/2018 Plano’s Fair Housing Symposium

You are invited to the City of Plano’s Fair Housing Symposium! We have an expert panel of speakers lined up to cover Fair Housing 101, how to file a complaint, disability rights, tenant’s rights, and how to search for affordable housing. You will also have a chance to learn about local non-profits who offer services to the community. Refreshments and snacks will be provided, and we will have child care for children ages 4-12. Registration is not required but you must register to be eligible for the door prize giveaways!

UHC In partnership with UnitedHealthcare, CPSH is pleased to announce the February 24, 2018 Project Independence Workshop.


The Project Independence Workshop takes families through the 5 steps of how to create independent living in the community with friends. The instructor and parents who have successfully used this approach will share information. Participants will plan how to transition their children to more independence. Families of any age children are welcome to attend.

This is is a 5 hour workshop. Lunch and refreshments are provided.
  • Step 1, Overview: What is supported housing? What is project independence?
  • Step 2, Finding a place to live: How to approach property owners?
  • Step 3, Services and paperwork: How to identify utilities, care, transportation, etc?
  • Step 4, Financial: What is your affordable budget?
  • Step 5, Moving in: How to be a good tenant?
You will leave with a workbook of information to plan your approach. There will be follow up opportunities for discussion.

This is an opportunity to bring families of your child's classmates and friends into a discussion the group living in close proximity with supports. Invite them to RSVP.

It's also a good way to meet other families interested in independent living with supports.

 Six Stones ministries (209 N Industrial Blvd #241, Bedford, TX 76021) is the site of the Mid-Cities summit from 10:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18th.   This summit features city code, fire, police, and development officials from the cities of Hurst, Euless, Bedford, and Grapevine.  It is an excellent opportunity to learn about each city’s unique programs and initiatives, and a chance to learn how the cities in northeast Tarrant County work together.  The Mid-Cities summit will conclude with break-out sessions with each city’s Neighborhood Patrol Officers (NPO).

Dr. Temple Grandin has served as inspiration and role model to hundreds of thousands of families and persons with autism. In this unique presentation, Dr. Temple eloquently and candidly describes the challenges she has faced and offers no-nonsense ideas on how others dealing with autism can meet these obstacles and improve the quality of their lives. Backed by her personal experience and evidence-based research, Temple shares her valuable insights on a wide variety of topics, and offers useful do’s and don’ts.
