Mainstream Vouchers

In 2018 Several DFW Housing Authorities have received Mainstream Vouchers. These Vouchers are designed to help tenants with disabilities live independently in the community. The Mainstream Vouchers are for non-elderly people with disabilities who are transitioning from institutional or other segregated settings to community living; at serious risk of institutionalization; homeless; or at risk of becoming homeless. This is affordable rent at about 30% of a persons income.

Here is the status of the housing authority programs as of 2/20/19

  • McKinney Housing Authority - waitlist closed/full

  • Denton Housing Authority - waitlist closed/full

  • Tarrant County Housing Assistance - waitlist closed/full

  • Arlington Housing Authority - not announced

  • Dallas Housing Authority - not announced

CPSH announces through email when signup is open for each of the voucher programs. Each housing authority has information about their program and how to sign up. Signup can be anywhere from a few hours to several weeks. Watch your email!

In this voucher program

  • the person holds the voucher.

  • the voucher holder looks for properties that will accept the voucher. This may be a property that already accepts vouchers or a property or is willing to fill out a simple form to accept a voucher for the first time.
