CPSH is offering a one hour workshop for high school students and adults who want to discuss living independently (with support services if needed) when they are no longer in secondary school.

This workshop explores where students and adults would like to live and some of the options they might consider when making decisions about their homes.

The attendees bring  their ideas and questions they have to their families and others who assist them in making these decisions

The workshop is held at schools or other meeting places across DFW area with educators, families or service providers present.

If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity please contact Jacky Sylvie

Consumer Directed Services (CDS)

CPSH has received many questions about how to manage the funds you or your loved one receives from Medicaid Waiver Programs.

Consumer Directed Services (CDS) may be the way for you to direct attendant care for someone who wants to live more independently. You become the employer and are responsible for recruiting, training, managing and firing your attendants.

Financial Management Service Agencies do your payroll, file federal and state employer taxes for you.  They are contracted with Texas Health & Human Services.

In some cases can pay a higher salary to your employee than they would receive working for a Medicaid Service Agency.

If you'd like more information about CDS take a look here or contact your Local Authority.
