DFW IDD NBHD Homes; Single Family homes, condominiums, duplexes, triplexes

The Dallas Housing Authority (DHA) has agreed to issue a Request For Proposal so that families, and others who are interested, may purchase homes in designated zip codes (in Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman, Rockwall and Tarrant Counties) and receive subsidized rent. The home would be for rental to 3 or 4 adults with diagnosed Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD).

The number of homes eligible for subsidized rent will be determined after the Meet and Greet meeting on 1/31/16. The DHA wants to understand how much interest there is in this program before deciding on the number of subsidized homes they will consider.

More information and RSVP for the 1/31/16 meeting is here.

Potential Property Owners/Landlords: Single Family homes, condominiums, duplexes, triplexes, etc. will qualify as Neighborhood Housing provided that there is a minimum of two bedrooms. The homeowner makes the final decision who lives in the home.

Parents, Siblings, Cousins and other family members: Help your adult family members move into more independent living. Many adults and students about to transition out of school in 2016 are ready to move into more independent living. Family members may contact their Service Provider or Managed Care Organization to understand support services that may be available. This program allows friends to live with friends.

Service Providers (Medicaid and Private): Your consumers and their families may want to know about the Neighborhood Homes program. Please share this with them. Also, your services are needed in homes that are assigned Project-Based Vouchers. If you will like to be added to the list of providers so that potential homeowners and tenants may contact you, please complete this
form.

Educators: It is possible for some students with diagnosed IDD to move into more independent living as they transition out of school. Would you please share this program with families of students transitioning out of school during 2016?

Everyone: Would you please share this opportunity with others who may want to know about the Neighborhood Homes Project?
