Neighborhood Homes - Brief Update

COMMUNITY FOR PERMANENT SUPPORTED HOUSING is receiving many emails and calls regarding the Neighborhood Homes project.  In 2014 this Dallas Housing Authority project offered subsidized rent for homeowners who rented their homes to three persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities and had very low income (ex: SSI).

This program was unable to move forward because funding for Personal Attendant Care, including overnight care, was not available to reimburse Medicaid Waiver service providers who cared for residents of these homes. As of June 2015 funding for more services is available to Medicaid recipients and those on waiting lists through Community First Choice, based on the individual’s assessed level of need.

In the next two months, CPSH will have discussions with Medicaid and Private Pay Providers about Community First Choice and revisit the opportunity to ask the Dallas Housing Authority to re-issue the Request for Proposal for Neighborhood homes.

CPSH appreciates your interest in this project.  We will share more information as it becomes available.
